Professor [Pt.] Sanjoy Bandopadhyay is an exceptional combination of an outstanding Sitar virtuoso, eminent Guru and a thoughtful academician. This internationally reputed musician is especially known for his exemplary spontaneity in musical expressions. His music is always lively, fresh and new.

Professor Sanjoy is a globally acclaimed scholar and researcher. He served internationally including the University of Chicago, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, University of Michigan, University of Alberta, and many others.

Pandit Sanjoy Bandopadhyay has trained many globally acclaimed musicians like Pt. Kushal Das [Sangeet Natak Academi Awardee], Rajrupa Chowdhury, Panchajanya De, Dr. Pragya Pyasi, Ayush Ghosh [Canada], Suhas Mitra [Scotland], Dr. Adrian McNeil [Australia], Georges Lindenmeyer [France], and many others.

Working on a concept of Living Museum that will be the nodal point for the chain of phenomena connecting the life, thoughts, activites and creations of Pt. Sanjoy Bandopadhyay.
Professor Bandopadhyay’s research initiatives include his activities as the Founder Director of SM Tagore Research in Obsolescent and Languishing Musical Instruments, Kolkata Music Mapping, Trans-national project with SMB Museum, Berlin, University of Chicago, and also his soft effort to connect research support repositories around the world.

Storify is another Sanjoy Bandopadhyay initiative to transform oral-cultural histories to narrative fictions. He could obtain support of his two Kolkata Music Mapping’s Project Associates Dr. Suranjita Paul and Dr. Rajeswary Ganguli Banerjee in this ambitious project.
