Pandit Sanjoy Bandopadhyay is the Ustad Allauddin Khan Professor of Instrumental Music, at the Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata; and he is a reputed academician, an outstanding sitar player and an exceptional teacher. He is also the Founder-Director of S.M. Tagore Centre for Documentation & Research of Languishing & Obsolescent Musical Instruments [SMTC-DRLOMI]. |

Bandopadhyay will visit different universities in Canada under invitation of Shastri
Indo-Canadian Institute [SICI] an Indo-Canadian bi-lateral initiative. His 10-day
tour will start from 27 October 2010. He will perform a sitar solo in
Saskatoon on the 29 October. Partha
Sarathi Mukherjee will join him on the tabla.

Brief Inquiry into the Creation of Musical Beauty’ a lecture scheduled at the
Jadavpur University on 31 August, 2010 from 3:30 p.m. at the UGC Refresher
Course organized by the Department of Sanskrit. The Refresher Course is for
the teachers of different universities and titled ‘Aesthetics: Easter and

Guru Purnima. Sanjoy is missing his affectionate Guru Pandit Bimalendu Mukherjee.
This is the first Guru Purnima when Sanjoy could not physically touch the
feet of his Guru or listen to his voice…
Guru’s blessings came from within. Sanjoy chose to write a few lines to express his inner
feelings. He feels very sad. |

Faculty to teach a part of a course in MBA [2009~10] on ‘Management
through Enlightenment (MC-220)’. Rabindra Bharati University’s Nodal Person for the National
Mission on Education through ICT that is piloted by the Indian Institute
of Technology [IIT], Kharagpur. |

Benaras Hindu University [BHU] inducted Professor Bandopadhayay as External
Expert for the ‘Board of Studies’ for the Faculty of Music. This is in
addition to his earlier induction as External Expert Member for the
‘Academic Council’ at the same Faculty of Studies. |
